HISTORY

Mango Valley C.D.F. started operation in July 1997 in Oracabessa with a vision to facilitate micro financing across St. Mary. Emphasis then was placed on training Management and Staff. At the close of 1997 Mango Valley Community Development Fund portfolio stood at one (1) loan valued at Eighty Thousand dollars ($80,000). Over the four (4) years that followed we saw continuous growth.

As at December Two Thousand and One (2001) the portfolio stood at five hundred and forty (540) loans valued at Thirty Two Million, Five Hundred and Fifty Nine Thousand, Three Hundred and Seventy Nine Dollars ($32,559,379.00).

AIM and OBJECTIVES

Our aim is to foster the development of the Micro Sector through funding, training and broaden the entrepreneurial spirit.

Our mission is to promote the development so successful business which can (or will) create employment for yourself and other community members.

PLAN or IDEA

Planning is essential in the success of any business. One must plan the type of business he or she wishes to start. In planning you look at the need for such business, the location, the availability of raw material, staffing access to utilities, the size and market for the product, and then you look at the availability of funding. That is where saving comes in.
