Loan 2004-2005

FIELD OPERATIONS

Loan Distribution by CDFs for the financial year 2004/2005 across the fourteen parishes of Jamaica is illustrated by the pie-chart below.

For the year under review, $162.03 million was disbursed to members of the CDFs for financing 1,535 micro businesses. This amount was approximately $50.0 million less than the previous year as MIDA experienced a shortage of Credit funds during 2004/2005.

During the 2004/2005 financial year, small agricultural holdings engaged in cash crops, yam, poultry and pig production received 16% of the total value of loans granted while small manufacturers engaged in woodwork/craft, garment and juice production obtained 6% of the total loans disbursed.

The service sector continues to be the most vibrant sector in the economy for the year under review, receiving 78% or $126.6 million of total value of loans granted. Activities funded include: computer services, day care centers, art and signs, barbering, tailoring, stationery supplies, beauty supplies and saloons, plumbing services, motor repairs, grocery shops, general vending and others.
